The three-day China Festival 2025 was opened with a festive ceremony at the Theater am Marientor. Numerous visitors experienced a vivid insight into Chinese culture.
Among the guests of honour were the Chinese Consul General Yu Yong, NRW State Parliament Vice President Rainer Schmeltzer and Duisburg’s Lord Mayor Sören Link, who jointly emphasised the importance of the festival as a symbol of friendship and cultural exchange.
The festival offered a diverse program: from music to calligraphy, Chinese cuisine and tai chi to traditional Hanfu demonstrations. A concert by the Yangzhou Music Theatre and a spectacular fireworks display rounded off the opening evening. One of the musical highlights were performances accompanied by a Kayerburg concert grand piano.
